Holiday Break!
While it is awesome to go home, visit family and friends, eat great food, sleep tons and generally be lazy this is a very important time for training. All those things are helpful and fun if you get some training in first! If you want to get all tuned up for the upcoming season you'll need to do some work! Training for the break: Week of 12/20

We made it through the fall semester and now it's finals week! It can be challengeing to find time to train this week BUT it sure helps you clear your head so it's sure worth the effort!

This week is an important week for training so please try to make it to some practices. Coaches will be gone with the WUG team but Ben and your amazing officers are more the ready for the challenge of running practice for this week! Also, we had to change the times due to Day Light Savings Time. If you are headed to WUG and you are feeling good you should make a serious attempt to get to ALL THREE speed workouts. If you are not going to WUG we want you to choose 2 of the options, we do not want you doing all three but you can come to the other day to do an alternative work out if you'd like. Well that was a crazy awesome day of roller skiing, trail work and giant rock removal! Great teamwork to get that rock out of that hole!

Woo Hoo! The beginning of planned speed has arrived! Time to start getting those incredible aerobic bodies ready to ROCK!!!
This is a transitional period between filling our bucket and serious emptying of the bucket. As we add intensity it is important to lower the overall training load and to get lots of rest! As we add more load, in the form of speed, we will lesson our OD load. Moving into what my old coach used to call, "Short & Sweet". Shorter workouts but harder! We are super excited to get everyone back in town and training together! This week we are going to jump start our training AND do one of our most important fundraising events: Trash2Treasures!!! We are now working towards our race season! We start this work by adding our arms to our training mix. So basically this week we will start doing all our runs with poles. The purpose here is to start our bodies transition to being a quadruped athlete. We had a fantastic couple of weeks of training and now is time for RECOVERY!
We are now focused on letting our bodies get a much needed break! Please try to take it easy this week to be ready for subsequent weeks! Coaches have an intense week with a week long workshop AND the gym is closed this week for construction so we are moving things around a little to accommodate!
