I'm sure I share the same feelings as the majority of the population as we are making our way through these trying times. When I'm feeling stressed about what is going on around me I try and remember to be thankful for the little things. I am lucky enough that I can properly social distance while still finding things to enjoy. I'm lucky enough that my family and friends are safe as well. While I might not be seeing my classmates in person, interacting with all of my teammates, or going to sit down at restaurants, I have to be happy with what I can do. I get to be in this lockdown with two wonderful roommates, I still get to enjoy being outside, and I've stepped up my bread making game. On earth day Syd, Krissanna, and I decided to enjoy the things that we can still do and we packed up our lunches and rode our bikes a few blocks to eat on the deserted UW campus. We sat on some stumps of the beautiful patio outside of the Berry Center. Covered by the shade of the trees that grow up and through the deck, we chatted, laughed, and ate our lunches. It was such a simple action but I think we all felt a little lighter as we rode our bikes back home with the sunshine on our backs. So as frustrated as I can get during this situation I want to try and make the best of it when I can.
