It was a beautiful week for training and we're excited to do some hard work this week!
We'll start on Tuesday with a full on Medal Test then we'll take a few chill days and then do the Silent Trails 10mi trail race! Going to be an awesome week! How fun was it to play in the first snow of the year! Woohoo!
Doing our two Hill Resistance workouts this week followed by a rollerski OD on Saturday. Should be a great week of training! Here we are, at the end of the summer training! Due to some strangeness with coaches and everyone enjoying the end of summer we did not have official practice last week. Thus, some of you had fun and did LOTS of training and some of you had fun and did little training. This will mean that you'll all need to decide where you are on the training week. Some of you will be attending the Memorial Day Camp this weekend and you will go over the hours but that can't be helped and it means that you need to take the training during the week very seriously! We know it's a tough time of year to start something new, with finals coming, but this will help your brain work better and help your concentration so you should try to make an effort to jump in! Well, the weather has not entirely cooperated for either hanging out in the sun nor crust skiing BUT it's still spring and there are some moments of lovely!
You still want to be doing activities that sound fun to you or are eustress (help you in your recovery like yoga, walks, stretching, rolling, etc.) BUT you might want to start adding in some OD type things, runs, bike rides, climbing, etc. There is also still TONS of snow and it's a great idea to get on your skis. Spring skiing, especially crust skiing, is a gift to us and allows us to gain valuable ski skills when others are already on their feet! They are still grooming Happy Jack or go do some plowing through deep snow in the Snowies or Chimney Park. The crust skiing has been elusive but it will eventually come! We will strength, core & yoga again this week, to help with that eustress and start to rebuild our opposing muscle groups. Team Training: Tuesday: 5:10pm, Corbett Gym, rebuilding Strength, Core, & Yoga. You can join us for Core and Yoga on Zoom, just let us know if you'd like the link! What you should be focusing on at this point is FUN and recovery! You should basically only be doing activities that sound fun to you or are eustress (help you in your recovery like yoga, walks, stretching, rolling, etc.) We will start yoga again in a few weeks, to help with that eustress. PLAY PLAY PLAY!!! We are now moving into our final week of training before Nationals. Woo Hoo!
Please try very hard NOT to do any extra this week. Let's go with the extreme tapering program - be as lazy as possible. Take elevators, lie down to study, everything you can do to give your body its best shot at peaking! Monday:
